Known as one of the very first American beefcake magazines, these original vintage issues of Physique Pictorial are beautiful and in near-perfect condition, directly from the Bob Mizer estate!
Published quarterly in Los Angeles by the Athletic Model Guild, Physique Pictorial exemplified the use of bodybuilding as a cover up for homoeroticism, and of course, to evade obscenity charges back in the day.
Not only do the pages of Physique Pictorial primarily feature the photography of Bob Mizer, who also served as the magazine’s editor, but the magazine also debuted many iconic homoerotic artists, including Touko Laaksonen (Tom of Finland), George Quaintance, Dom Orejudos (Etienne), and Bill Schmeling (Torro, The Hun).
