Known as one of the very first American beefcake magazines, Physique Pictorial exemplified the use of bodybuilding culture and classical figure-posing as a cover for homoerotic male images, and to evade charges of obscenity.

These original vintage issues of Physique Pictorial magazines from the 1960's are in excellent condition and feature some of the earlier beloved work of Bob Mizer, Tom of Finland, George Quaintance, Etienne, and more.

Our collection ranges from 1960 to 1964 and is broken down my Volume and Issue Number.

A little more history...

From 1951 to 1990 Physique Pictorial mostly featured Bob Mizer's photos of nude (or nearly nude) athletic young men in addition to well known homoerotic artists including Tom of Finland, George Quaintance, and "Etienne".

When new laws in the 1960's allowed magazines to print full-frontal nudity, Physique Pictorial publications fell out of popularity, so starting in 1969 they switched to fully nude photographs and turned into more of a catalog for wrestling and bondage videos" by the 1980's.
