Beverly Fairfax Magnets

Pygmy Hippo is proud to be part of the Beverly Fairfax Historic District of Los Angeles, which was officially recognized by the National Register of Historic Places on October 4, 2018!

The majority of buildings in the Beverly Fairfax district were developed between 1924 and 1949 and include Spanish Colonial Revival, Streamline Modern, Mediterranean Revival, and Art Deco architectural styles amongst many others.

Deeply rooted in Jewish American history, the Beverly Fairfax District became a safe haven for Holocaust survivors, and by 1961 the district was over 60% Jewish, with many residents still living in the same apartment their grandparents once called home.

Huge thanks to all of the owners and residents who formed Save Beverly Fairfax in 2016, a grassroots coalition responsible for protecting our neighborhood's architectural and cultural history.
