• Maya Alexis is a México City & Los Angeles based artist drawing from diverse storytelling traditions, including Mexican and African American folktales, early circus aesthetics, puppetry, and scribbled notes to herself. Her work visualizes an alternate portrayal of black joy; a universe of dandies on unicycles, nights at the theater, and dancers in feathered costumes.
